We would like to welcome Maria Valeria Junqueira, Werner Schmid and Claudia Seeger to the team. They joined BBTN in July, adding important talent, experiences, abilities and international scope to the movement. Welcome on board!
All BBTN Directors run their own businesses (see details and links in the profiles), but dedicate a significant part of their energy and all their knowledge to the BBTN. In addition to their BBTN work, they are out there with their individual service portfolios to support you in making Beyond Budgeting real!

Claudia Seeger, BBTN Director
Claudia Seeger is BBTN Director and president of Coaching and Art, a consulting firm based in Murr, Germany.
Claudia develops and applies change management methods, based on the same principles and processes used to creare art.
Her multi-cultural background, deep knowledge in voice training and painting, as well as her experience in artistic processes are coupled with profound pedagogical experiences and her training as a business economist.
Her passion is to show organizations that general improvement and innovation is based on a common understanding of the organization´s culture. To achieve this, she trains people in developing their empathy, using fresh and unique methods based on creative processes also applied by artists. Working with Claudia is fun and delightful, liberating creative potential and reconnecting people with their inner self.
Since she works as a consultant, she has successfully led several cultural change programs in small and medium-sized companies, and she also regularly works for multinational companies, such as Bosch.

Gebhard Borck, BBTN Director

Gebhard Borck is BBTN Director and president of gberatung, a consulting firm based in Pforzheim, Germany.
Gebhard develops and applies change management and group communication methods, based on his experience of how change really works.
Speaking three languages fluently, he has gathered international experience working in Germany, the US and in Spain.
Since 2006, he has in his work with the Beyond Budgeting model found a home for his novel change an project management methods and settings. Beyond Budgeting, in his views, gives him the unique possibility to show his clients how profound and amazingly energizing change in organizations can actually be.
In 2000, Gebhard started his career as a freelance consultant. Since then, he has worked for companies from different industries (e.g. automotive, energy, engineering, wellness, research, electronic) and of different sizes, serving multinational companies like Daimer AG as well as medium-sized firms like Paradigma, or other entrepreneurs.
In 2007, he founded a software company that focuses on innovative solutions for acitvity-based documentation.

Niels Pflaeging, BBTN Director
You are searching for a frank, provocative and brilliant mind to compete with, intellectually.

Niels Pflaeging is BBTN Director and president of MetaManagement Group, a consulting firm based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Niels is one of the world´s foremost authorities on Beyond Budgeting. He has published books and many articles on the subject, and since 2002 he has travelled more than 15 countries, presenting and discussing the Beyond Budgeting idea. He is a profilic speaker, speaking four languages fluently.
Niels´ second book, “Leading with flexible Targets. Beyond Budgeting in Practice” was awarded the Financial Times Germany Best Business Book award, in 2006. Both this book and his previous one, entitled "Beyond Budgeting, Better Budgeting", published back in 2003, were lauded by critics and readers and became bestsellers.
Since 2006, Niels has been strongly involved in Beyond Budgeting tranformation initiatives in firms both in Europe and in South America.
Prior to the BBTN, Niels was a director with the BBRT for five years. He was also a business controller at multinational firms, including ThyssenKrupp and Boehringer Ingelheim.

Maria Valeria Junqueira, BBTN Director
Maria Valéria Junqeira is BBTN Director and an independent consultant with offices in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Valéria is a higly experienced executive and a serial entrepreneur. She has been the founder of business in several different industries, and was an executive in the finance area for more than two decades.
Over the last couple of years, she was CFO for the Brazilian subsidiary of an international industrial group. Previously, she was a top executive at Brazil´s biggest chocolate producer, Garoto, which she ultimately single-handedly sold to Nestlé. The transaction was one of the widely regarded and commented mergers of the last decade.
Since 2006, she has been in touch with the Beyond Budgeting movement, leading a transformation initiative at Logoplaste do Brasil, a 400-people organization. The case study has been published as BBTN white paper No.9.

Werner Schmid, BBTN Director
Werner Schmid is BBTN Director and president of vedamanagement, a consulting company founded in 1992 (formerly Schmid & Partner) and headquartered in Basle, Switzerland.
Werner is a professional communicator, experienced in the fields of management, sales, internal communication, transformation, team management and systemic consulting. Since he has got in contact with Beyond Budgeting some years ago he is convinced that all his knowledge, experience and talents match ideally with the principles of the Beyond Budgeting Model.
His professional experiences based on his successful work for large and mid-sized companies of various business fields made him a widely awake partner for his clients who understands their concerns quick and interconnected. His empathy, intuition and talent for personal relationships transforms working with his concepts into sustainable success.
Being married to a French and having the Swiss and French nationality, Werner not only speaks perfect German, French and English but has a broad multicultural understanding.
Having travelled in Asia and especially India he well combines European culture, Asian wisdom and the straight-forward American Way.

The founders team.
The BBTN was founded in early 2008, after it became apparent over the course of the previous year that the Beyond Budgeting movement urgently needed to change, in order to fulfil the promise of the Beyond Budgeting model.
The turning point, or the initiating moment for the BBTN was a work gathering of Beyond Budgeting Round Table directors in Switzerland, in December 2007.
During that meeting, a bold new vision and mission for the BBRT were outlined. The vision was quite simple. It said: "The Beyond Budgeting model is the standard management model." That made sense to everyone at the meeting. The vision was bold. It was clear. It was "true".
Several more great ideas for the movement were dashed out during the session. But ultimately, the new vision and mission were rejected by some within the group, due to mostly personal reasons and preferences.
Thus, the meeting resulted in the immediate retirement of Robin Fraser, the "founding father" of the transformation idea, from the BBRT.
Gebhard Borck and Niels Pflaeging opted for another direction: Not out, but in!
They wanted this to be the starting point of something new, energizing, and exciting, and not the end.
In response to what had happened at the meeting, they decided to pick up the challenge of the freshly developed vision and mission statement, and to initiate the foundation of a new, international association, seperate from the BBRT.
An association that would not only "talk" Beyond Budgeting. But that would, instead, "make it real!"
